You are a seed: Focus on yourself

Tuesday, August 20th – We live in a world full of distractions. The internet and social media constantly vie for our attention, making it easy to forget what truly matters—ourselves. You are a seed. You have potential within you, and that seed holds a purpose. If you don’t focus on yourself, you won’t discover your purpose.

When you focus on yourself, you can uncover your innate potential, cultivate it, develop it, and begin using it for what it was designed for. You are a seed. A seed doesn’t grow alongside others; it finds its place in solitude, buried deep in the soil. It is only after this period of dormancy that it springs forth with new life. From that small seed grows a mighty tree, bearing fruits that feed many. The same potential lies within you.

You are a seed. You need to act like a seed—withdraw, introspect, reflect, and question your passions and interests. Discover what you were made for, what you were created for, what your purpose is. When you find your purpose, congratulations. That is just the beginning of a journey towards fulfilment. Imagine if the seed could see itself in 10 years’ time as a tree—how fulfilled it would feel. Or imagine the joy it would experience in finding the water it needs to grow and thrive. What a fulfilling experience that would be.

But don’t forget, just like a seed that could sit on a shelf for a million years and never become a tree, you too won’t realise your potential if you don’t find the right environment. A seed needs to be planted to grow, but you, as a human, can plant yourself. You don’t need anyone to bury you, but if you do need guidance, seek a mentor or a role model to help you on your journey. Learn what to do at each stage of your development until you are mature enough to make decisions for yourself.

Remember, you are a seed with vast potential hidden inside you. You need to focus on yourself. Stop comparing yourself with others, and stop determining your value based on the value of others. Don’t be distracted by what’s happening around you or what you see on social media. You are unique. All you need to do is focus on discovering the uniqueness that lies within you.

Don’t be like a seed that remains on a shelf or in a jar. If it stays there, it will never become a tree, never bear fruit, never make an impact, never feed others, and never truly live. Within every seed, including you, there is life. Focus on yourself. Withdraw, let go of distractions, plant yourself, and watch as new life emerges. Don’t let your seed remain dormant—start focusing on yourself today. Bless you.

Action Steps:

1. Set aside time for daily introspection to discover your passions and interests. Do this for the next 7 days.

2. Identify and eliminate distractions, particularly from social media, that prevent you from focusing on your personal growth.

3. Seek out a mentor or role model who can guide you on your journey of self-discovery and development.
