As you are aware, about a month ago, I started advertising a one-on-one tutoring service. About two weeks ago, I completed the curriculum design for coding for kids and then advertised it. I’m incredibly impressed with how much has been achieved in the last 10 days. After advertising, I secured my first client for the coding for kids programme. I’m pleased to report that the other 2TOTS sessions have been going well too, and I’ve gained several clients for that as well. In fact, I’m almost fully booked for September.
Now, back to the coding for kids programme, which I really want to discuss. I believe parents should encourage their children to understand how computers work, how things are done, how technology functions, and how they can be part of the creative process. This is especially important for those of religious faiths, so we can protect our beliefs. However, every child should have the opportunity to engage with technology creatively. Rather than being passive consumers, it’s better for them to be active creators. It’s better to be at the table than to be on the menu. When you’re on the menu, you’re the one being served; but if you’re at the table, you decide what’s on the menu.
I encourage more parents to enrol their children in coding lessons so they can understand and participate in the creative aspects of technology. For instance, one of my very first students, Ola—my namesake, in fact—did exceptionally well on her first day. After just about 30 minutes of lessons, she created her first webpage and said, “Hello world, my name is Ola,” which she named “Ola’s World.” I’m quite impressed and happy with how quickly she is learning. This is truly inspiring for me, and I’m very grateful to God for the inspiration and for those who are encouraging me.
To those who are joining this journey, I’m thrilled to help your children become the best versions of themselves. If you’re wondering how to keep them engaged during the holidays or even after school, consider coding. Once they start, they won’t want to stop. That’s been my experience.
