The Joy of Investing in Knowledge and Preserving Books

We all have different reasons for buying books, but for me, it’s an investment in both knowledge and nostalgia. Here’s why:

1. Personal Favorites: Some books I’ve read from others’ shelves were so impactful, I needed to own them myself.
2. Highly Recommended Reads: When a book comes with glowing recommendations, I don’t hesitate to invest, regardless of its edition.
3. Gradual Collection: When I can, I add to my collection over time, making sure it’s constantly evolving.

On my shelf, you’ll find books I’m halfway through because I want to savor them, not rush. Then, there are those precious, hard-to-find gems I own in multiples, knowing that once they’re out of stock, they may be impossible to find again — this is common with books and journals published in Nigeria which is why we started building https://researchafrica.pub

So, why do you have the books you own? Or what drives you to build your collection?
