Pages of Growth: My 2024 Reads and 2025 Aspirations

December 26, 2024

As I sat on my sofa reflecting this morning, I decided to take stock of how many books I’ve read this year and plan for the next. With my writing pad, I began listing the books I intend to read in Q1 of 2025. Just on my Amazon reading list, connected to my Kindle, I already have eight books queued up.

Reading has always been one practice that shapes the mind, broadens perspectives, challenges thinking, and pushes you further in life. Some books you read once; others you revisit multiple times. Some are companions you turn to when you need them, while others demand slow, deliberate reading.

One such book for me this year was Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I read it for the second time, taking my time to absorb its meaning. It’s no surprise that it’s also the book I’ll be ending my year with.

As I look ahead to 2025, my reading list is still evolving—some books remain, while others are added or removed. At the start of January, I plan to share my full reading list for the year, but for now, here’s a glimpse of what’s on my priority list:

I’ll kick off the year with Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals by Michael Hyatt. After that, I’ll dive into a couple of religious books, a focus area for me in January. These include The Second Coming of Christ: Living with Anticipation and How to Be Filled with the Holy Spirit, both by A.W. Tozer.

Following that, I’ll explore books on early Christianity, West African history, and the colonial history of Britain and America. Titles like Early Christianity: A Captivating Guide will feature prominently in what I call my “rhetoric set.”

Personal development books are also on the horizon, and I’ll share that part of my list soon.

I hope some of these titles inspire you. Feel free to join me on this journey of growth and exploration.
