Tuesday, 2nd July 2024 —I often prioritise doing God’s work every day before I get on with my own tasks. Today was no different. I started the day by fixing the bug from yesterday and integrating it with the OBS Livestream software to ensure everything was working smoothly. Thankfully, it went well, and I just need to copy the code and update it on the church system. That’s done—God’s work comes first. It’s essential to do something for His ministry and my faith every day.
Next, I focused on putting together my presentation, which is progressing well. However, I also have a family function to attend, and I’m trying to balance my commitments. Later in the evening, I have a Bible study engagement. You see, various important things vie for my attention, especially if you have faith and religious commitments. Balancing all these aspects remains a challenge that everyone striving to be effective must tackle.
Balancing work and relationships is crucial, and this is where the family function comes in. Many people don’t realise the challenges researchers face: striving to succeed, conducting rigorous research, maintaining social connections, and staying mentally and psychologically fit. It’s difficult. We shouldn’t judge others too harshly because everyone manages stress differently, and our coping mechanisms vary. We must be mindful and strategic in our approach to avoid being overwhelmed by the need to achieve results.
While I’m not entirely satisfied with my current productivity, I believe there’s always room for improvement. I’ve always had multiple projects going on because that’s what keeps life interesting for me. My wife often says I don’t rest; I’m always working, even when there’s no pressing task. I enjoy working because it gives me fulfilment, and I love my family. But sometimes, I struggle to balance work and family time. It’s essential to ensure work doesn’t encroach on family time, which is something I’m working on.
This blog is more than just an entry; it’s an expression of myself and my daily experiences. Now, as I’m driving, I’m recording these voice notes, which will later be transcribed into words—thanks to AI for making this process seamless. Productivity is key, and it’s important to always find ways to get things done. If I waited until I stopped driving to write this, it might never get done. But look, it’s working.
So, always think about ways to be productive. It’s okay to have multiple tasks at hand. Effective time management ensures you don’t miss out on important things. A quick example: I entered the three-minute thesis competition quite late but still managed to win the first runner-up. Imagine if I had applied sooner—I might have won first place. Never underestimate the impact of your efforts.
Eventually, all your efforts add up to form a portfolio of achievements—mental, psychological, physical, intellectual, and even social assets. Pay attention to these assets and think about their importance. I hope you’ve learned something from today’s entry.
One more thing: dedicating a little time to my research this year led to two of my best publications. If you haven’t read my previous blog about this, go check it out. Let’s keep moving forward. You cannot stop. It’s not good for your destiny or your dreams. Keep dreaming and keep doing. Wishing you the best. Have a great day.
