Balancing the many roles of a father is no easy task. Ever wondered what it takes to juggle fatherhood, a PhD, and life’s daily hustle? Join me as I reflect on the key takeaways that have shaped my fatherhood journey.
Hey there, happy Father’s Day. Yeah, it’s Father’s Day. I didn’t get to write this on Father’s Day because I had to write this particular one much later just to tick off the box. It was a busy day. I was serving and had a wonderful experience in the church. It was a day to remember our roles as fathers and to be celebrated. Of course, being a father comes with a lot of responsibilities.
I became a father at about age 28 or 29. It’s been amazing so far. I’ve been married for three years and have had two children already. You can imagine dealing with young children and all that comes with it, along with combining research, a PhD, and the hustle and bustle of life. I’m very grateful for the wife God has blessed me with. It’s not always easy, but God has been faithful on this journey. She’s been supportive, and I’m happy with my family.
To every father out there, may God continue to strengthen you. I understand it’s not easy, but we must remember our responsibility to nurture our children and our wives in the way of the Lord. When they grow up, they will hold on to it and not depart from it. I pray that you find strength in the challenges, both the ones you speak about and the ones you don’t. May the Lord help us all, because it’s not easy. May God give us spiritual sanity and help us be better models as fathers. Not everyone who has a child is a father, so may God make us better fathers.
From the message, a key takeaway is that fathers come through. That was the start of the message. It was about how Jesus always comes through, even for the sons. God came through as Jesus Christ, and even after Jesus Christ, He comes through as the Holy Spirit. He has always come through for people. He’s a loving father, a good, good father. We, too, as fathers, have to model the superior image of Christ, of God, and come through for our own people.
Another key takeaway is to consistently read the Word. Since that service, I’ve made it a point to always have my Bible by my side. A physical Bible, not just the one on my phone. In the car, on the journey, I have it with me. I’m proud of the Word because it helps me. I can tell you categorically, I feel the difference. Instead of spending idle moments pressing my phone, I spend that time reading my Bible. It’s been a blessing.
I hope someone learned from this today. May God bless you, and happy Father’s Day.
