Morning Goals and Reflections (8:00 AM)
I have a few goals for Wednesday, June 12, 2024. I want to finish rewriting chapter one. I have all the content and just need to organize it to ensure it flows well, capturing readers’ attention from the first few pages. This means refining the introduction, background, and statement of the problem to give it a polished and updated look that clearly portrays my perspective. That’s my main goal for today.
I also have some family responsibilities. I need to complete the registration for my son’s school, which starts in September. Today is the deadline, and we’ve waited until the last minute, which isn’t ideal. I’ll be grateful if I can get everything done. I’m trusting God to help me.
Additionally, I’ll be sharing yesterday’s journal post, which contains some wisdom and lessons. My June 12 morning notes are primarily about setting my goals and seeing how the day unfolds. I’ll reflect on today’s experiences this evening (or tomorrow morning) and share what I learned.
I’m about to pick up my neighbor now. See you later today. Bye.
Afternoon Progress (3:15 PM)
It’s 3:15 PM. Well, it’s been good so far. I just had my lunch. Above all, I mentioned that I want to finish Chapter 1 today, and I’ve done quite a lot. It’s almost 85% done, and then I’ll rewrite it. I’m just looking at some comments from my review meetings. Most importantly, it’s been rigorously fun. I’ve been encouraging myself, revisiting my notepad, and more.
One realization today is that I often take notes from meetings but didn’t go back to them when working on documents. So, I pulled out my notepad from 2023 meetings and realized I hadn’t responded to some issues I had noted. So I needed to do that.
Another thing is, I was about to be distracted, but I kept reminding myself: this is your goal. One of the good things about setting your goal clearly from the beginning is that you have something defined to achieve. When you’re about to go off track, your mind tells you that that’s not what you’re meant to achieve. When other applications keep popping up, like emails, I just ignore them. I might spend a few seconds on them, but once I get conscious that I’m on the wrong track, I shut them down and go back to the document. This is crucial, especially in this age of constant digital distractions. We have to be very intentional to stay on track.
Well, that’s where I am now. I did a bit of posting on social media, catching up with my friend and personal assistant, Oluwaseye. He’s helping with my social media. Seye will be starting his master’s soon and is already thinking about his thesis title. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of his efforts.
Lessons Learned (6:00 PM)
- Clear Goal Setting: Defining your goals clearly from the start helps keep you focused and on track, even when distractions arise.
- Review Past Notes: Regularly revisit notes from previous meetings or projects. They can contain valuable insights and tasks that still need attention.
- Manage Distractions: In a world full of digital interruptions, being intentional about ignoring distractions and returning to the main task is essential for productivity.
- Balance Responsibilities: Balancing work goals with family responsibilities requires planning and sometimes trust in a higher power or external help.
- Reflect and Share: Reflecting on daily activities and sharing insights can offer wisdom and lessons for others.
Next Day AM Reflection (8:00 AM) — Thursday, June 13, 2024
Hello, G’day. Let’s talk about yesterday. Like I mentioned, the day started well with goals, and by 3:15 PM, I did another vlog, as you can see above. I had almost reached 85% completion. After a bit of rest, I ran into several planned meetings. These meetings are part of giving back to all of us—a personal growth conversation based on John Maxwell’s training. These meetings extended into the later night, so I couldn’t finish the remaining 10% of my task.
After 3:15 PM, I managed to do 5 more percent, leaving just 10% of the chapter unfinished. I started the day with energy and achieved 80% of the work. The remaining work is just final touches, which I plan to complete today. Additionally, I was working on an application yesterday, which took up some of my time and prevented me from working late on the chapter. I also had some family time and a good rest. That’s about yesterday. For today, I want to finish that remaining 10%. I’ll be changing my workspace and going to the office, hoping the new environment will help me complete everything. This is me journaling yesterday’s activities this morning and setting the pace for today. Today is Thursday. Let me know what you learned from this, and share your thoughts on our conversation. Cheers!
…till ‘morrow
