A Goal Without a Plan

When I interact with younger colleagues, friends, and relatives, I often ask: WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS? To my surprise, 8 out of 10 people couldn’t answer this question. They have no plans! If you’re one of them, you seriously need a plan to reach your goals. As they say,

A goal without a plan is just a wish.

Failing to plan is planning to fail, as Allen Lakein said. Benjamin Franklin put it another way: By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

Planning brings the future into the present – it lets you design your chosen future. Your plan may not be perfect, but you can adjust it as circumstances change.

Without a plan, unexpected events can easily dissuade you. Plans, on the other hand, keep you persuaded and moving forward.

A person with a clear plan is focused and driven. They won’t be easily sidetracked until they achieve their goal.

Sharing your dream is like sharing your plan. But only confide in your closest supporters.

Your plan is a blueprint, a roadmap, a master guide. CREATE IT. You’ll be glad you did.

Remember:

Planning without action is futile, action without planning is fatal

Cornelius Fichtner

Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow. If you fail to plan today, someone else may co-opt you into their plans.

START PLANNING and START EXECUTING!

As Martin Luther King Jr. said,

“If you can’t fly, then run; if you can’t run, then walk; if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.

Key Takeaways:

  • If you don’t have a plan for your goals, you’re just wishing, not working towards something tangible.
  • Planning is crucial – it brings the future into the present and lets you design the outcome.
  • Plans persuade and motivate you, even when obstacles arise.
  • Don’t just plan – take action! Execution is key to turning your plans into reality.
  • CREATE A PLAN and START EXECUTING! As MLK said, “keep moving forward.”
